The story, in the theatre’s words: Robinson Crusoe “dreams of adventure, while his outrageous mother Dame Gertie Crusoe tries to keep everyone afloat, mostly by causing chaos”. The crew includes Martin, Newby and Princess Isla, and the villain is Captain Chinbeard. Expect pirates, storms and slapstick.
The Seckford Theatre is in the grounds of Woodbridge School on Burkitt Road, IP12 4JH, a short walk uphill from the Thoroughfare.
Father Brown: the alternative to panto
Common Ground Theatre Company, whose Phantom of Friar Street is touring this autumn, brings its Christmas show Father Brown and the Carnival of Fear to two local stages. Aldeburgh Jubilee Hall calls it “a bonkers, surreal and hilarious alternative to panto”. The plot: a Roman hoard is stolen on its way to the British Museum, and Father Brown follows the trail to a carnival led by “Mozzarelli, the big cheese”.
